New Guill Tooling Series 500 Designed for Silicone, Yields 0.003″ Wall Thickness

West Warwick, RI – The 500 Series from Guill Tool & Engineering Co., Inc. addresses industry’s long-standing search for a precision silicone extrusion. A special low-volume, thin-wall – as minute as 0.003″ — designed crosshead or in-line die for silicone that is specially enhanced for medical, fine wire and OEM tubing to large heads with up to 5 layers or multi-stripe capability.

Guill’s engineers have designed-in a host of benefits to the Series 500. These include: a unique split manifold that enables two, four or more tubes or profiles to be produced with the same head; and an integral heating and cooling system assures proper temperature control, to prevent scorching of the extruded material.

All Guill heads offer a patent pending FeatherTouch™adjustment in the die holder – a cartridge-style ball assembly that doesn’t require the loosening of retaining screws to make adjustments. Fixed center can be added to any Guill head. Additional unique benefits include Guill’s Seal Right System, a positive seal which eliminates leakage between deflectors, along with easy self-alignment that reduces operator error during assembly. The Series 500 unique flow system encompasses a 1-5-layer capability and this tooling also adapts to any existing extruder layout.

According to Bill Conley, Guill’s Sales Manager, “Our Series 500 has been well received by the medical/OEM industry, because of the built-in technology available to users. For example, our multi-layer designed head handles up to 5 layers and also has a multi-stripe capability for an internal or external stripe. This internal capability fully encapsulates the stripe in an outside skin and the external stripe capability enables color coding or identification for a specific orientation or application.” Conley concluded, ” In addition to silicone, the Series 500 is also excellent for a full range of rubber applications as well.”
